The DC Animated Universe

The DC Animated Universe (DCAU) references a collection of animated TV shows based on DC comics characters.

The continuity of the DCAU was overseen by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm and is often referred to as the Diniverse or the Timmverse respectively.

“Marvel

Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series, The New Batman Adventures, Batman Beyond, The Zeta Project, Static Shock, Gotham Girls, Lobo: Webseries, Justice League, and Justice League Unlimited.

Batman: The Animated Series

Batman: The Animated Series was the first show to begin the DC Animated Universe. The dark athmosphere and excellent writing made this show a hit with kids as well as adult fans.

First aired in 1995 on Fox Kids, Batman: The Animated Series had a film nior feel timeless feel. Based on the artwork by producer Bruce Timm, the show went on to become a a four-time Emmy Award-winning series.

In 1994, The show was soon renamed The Adventures of Batman & Robin to help introduce a younger audience to the character of Robin who would be appearing in the 1995 movie Batman Forever.

Superman: The Animated Series

Superman: The Animated Series was first aired in 1996 on Kids’ WB. The show was highly regarded by DC comics fans who appreciated the quality of story-telling and animation.

Also appearing in the show were guest stars including: Batman, Aquaman, Flash, Doctor Fate and Green Lantern.

Justice League TV series

The Justice League TV series continued the DC animated universe running from 2001 to 2004. The series was rebranded as Justice League Unlimited following the first two seasons.

Characters featured in the show included Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Martian Manhunter, and Hawkgirl.
