The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode Summary

Following the first season of The Mandalorian, Star Wars fans couldn’t wait to find out what happened to Baby Yoda and his protector Din Djarin.

The Mandalorian Season 2 introduced some familiar characters from the Star Wars universe including Boba Fett, Ahsoka Tano and a surprise appearance of Luke Skywalker.

Below we recap on the complete season 2 as Din Djarin and the crew of The Razor Crest continue their journey.

Mandalorian Season 2: Episodes 1-8

The Mandalorian Season 2 continues to follow the adventures of the bounty Hunter Din Djarin as he tries to return The Child, Grogu back to the Jedi.

The eight-episode season premiered on October 30, 2020, on the Disney+ streaming service.

Season 2 of The Mandalorian was written by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni with directors including Jon Favreau, Peyton Reed, Bryce Dallas Howard, Carl Weathers, Dave Filoni, Robert Rodriguez and Rick Famuyiwa.


Chapter 9: The Marshal

The Mandalorian is asked to return his charge, the foundling known as The Child to its people, the Jedi.

He kickstarts his search for the other Mandalorians who he hopes can assist him in finding the Jedi. In the course of this, he is directed to one who is suspected of being a Mandalorian himself and who is based in Tatooine Town of Mos Pelgo.

While there, he catches wind that no Mandalorian does exist at Mos Pelgo. Instead, he is attacked by, supreme leader Cobb Vanth, who is putting on the Mandalorian weaponry.

Vanth tells him that he freed his town from the shackles of the Mining Collective by use of his weaponry. This town endures frequent attacks from Krayt Dragon.

Vanth agrees to hand back the Mandalorian weaponry to its original owners as a gesture for the support he received when slaying Krayt Dragon.

The Mandalorian on the other hand strikes an agreement with the inhabitants of Mos Pelgo and the inhabitants of the local extended family of Tusken Raiders.

Chapter 10: The Passenger

The Mandalorian accepts to capture a Frog Lady and her eggs from the Tatooine town to the estuary of moon Trask. It is at this place that her husband fertilizes the eggs as a way of soliciting information about other Mandalorians.

Given the fragile nature of the eggs, they have to travel at a pace that is slow but sub-light. While journeying, they come across X-wing fighters who push the Mandalorians to an adjacent icy planet.

The Mandalorian, the child, and the passenger are ensnared in the River Crest i.e. the Mandalorian’s ship, until such a time that the X-wing’s pilots come across them and exterminate all the creatures.

They state that considering that the Mandalorians helped to capture his collaborators from the prison break, they will annul the writ for arrest and deliver him with some notice.

Upon the Mandalorians concluding the repairs, the scrapped Razor Crest takes off and continues with its journey to the Trask.

Chapter 11: The Heiress

While at Trask, the Frog Lady rejoins her husband and they channel the Mandalorian to a local hotel where he may mine some pieces of information about other Mandalorians.

Some three Mandalorians, led by Bo-Katan Kryze, rescue this Mandalorian together with his child. To do this, she invokes the support of the Mandalorians to capture weapons from an imperial fighter while at the same time gaining critical information from the Jedi.

Moff Gideon instructs the imperial captain to crash the ship but his efforts are thwarted by Bo-Katan who asks the captain about the Darksaber. He ends his life.

Bo-Katan then instructs the Mandalorian to meet up with the Jedi Ahsoka Tano in the Calodan city which is located on the forest planet of Corvus.

Chapter 12: The Siege

Razor Crest asks for further repairs for the ship can get to Corvus. Thus, the Mandalorian and the child divert to Nevarro at which point they reunite with their allies Great Kanga and Cara Dune.

As the Razor Crest undergoes repairs, the Mandalorian is tipped about how much things have improved in Nevarro from the last time he was present there under the joint leadership of Dune as the supreme leader and Karga as a magistrate.

While doing this, they come to the realization that that base serves as a laboratory by Dr. Pershing. He conducts experiments using the blood of children that have a higher M-count.

The child and the Mandalorian depart to Corvus, not knowing that an imperial spy has placed a tracker on the Razor Crest on Moff Gideon’s behalf.

Chapter 13: The Jedi

The child and the Mandalorian reach the city of Calodan which is found on the Corvus planet. They find the population there living in great fear of the city’s magistrate, Morgan Elsbeth, and her security team.

By use of force, Ahsoka finds out that the child is called Grogu and that he started training as a Jedi way before the empire even arose. She accepts to further his training if the Mandalorians assist him in vanquishing Elsbeth.

Ahsoka provokes Elsbeth and insists on knowing where the master, Grand Admiral Thrawn, might be. Thereafter, Ahsoka declines to train Grogu given his close association with the Mandalorians.

Chapter 14: The Tragedy

The Mandalorian walks Grogu to the old temple on Tython and places him on the ‘seeing stone’ that is located right at the center of the temple.

Grogu reflects and is enveloped by a protective field of energy. Boba Fett soon gets there with the hitman Fennec Shand, who, the Mandalorian had in the times past left to die at Tatooine.

Feet expounds that that weaponry that is put on by Cobb Vanth is his, given that his father was a founder of the Mandalorian. The Mandalorian accepts to get the weaponry back in exchange for the well-being of Grogu.

Fennec, Fett, and the Mandalorians deter the Strormtrooper’s offensive at which time Grogu concludes meditating and the energy field surrounding him vanishes. Gideon damages the Razor Crest from the orbit before triggering his Droid Dark Troopers, who succeed in accosting Grogu.

Chapter 15: The Believer

Mayfield’s former imperial commanding officer, whom Mayfield murders when he gloats about the atrocities that were committed by the Empire in ‘Operation Cinder,’ confronts the pair.

Both the Mandalorian and Mayfield escape with the support of Fett, Dune, and Fennec. Dune releases Mayfield. The Mandalorian however sends a transmission warning to Gideon that he intends to capture Grogu.

Chapter 16: The Rescue

Dune and the Mandalorian board an imperial shuttle and grasp Dr. Pershing. To make this possible, they invoke the support of Koska Reeves and Bo-Katan to liberate Grogu. Bo-Katan in return obtains Gideon’s cruiser and the Darksaber.

They make use of a shuttle to get close enough to crash land on the cruiser of Gideon. Fett pretends to attack them in Slave I.

He wages war against Gideon using the spear and prevails upon the Moff. In this way, he makes Moff the legitimate owner of the Darksaber.

The Dark Troopers jet back to the ship but are nonetheless damaged by one, Luke Skywalker. He is a Jedi that Grogu got in touch with while at Tython.

This Mandalorian grants Grogu the permission to go to Skywalker and the R2-D2 respectively to conclude his training. Later on, Fennec and Fett travel to the palace of Jabba on Tatooine from whence Fett slays Bib Fortuna and takes claim of the throne.
