The Hulk is the alter ego of theoretical physicist Bruce Banner. The indestructible persona known as the Hulk emerges whenever Banner becomes overcome with rage.

One of the most popular characters from Marvel Comics, The Hulk has also reached a wider audience through the portrayal of Hulk by Mark Ruffalo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Hulk in Marvel Comics

Dr. Bruce Banner is an American theoretical physicist known for studying gamma radiation and nuclear physics.

General Ross hired him into the army to try and create the first Gamma Bomb. During the initial test, he was attacked by large doses of gamma as he was trying to save a kid, Rick Jones.

He feared the damage that the Hulk could do, so he went on the run but found a home with the avengers, although it was for a short period.

The Hulk and the Avengers

Loki tricked the Hulk into a battle with his brother, Thor, but it backfired, leading to the formation of the Avengers.

However, there was mistrust in the group regarding the Hulk. This was evidenced when the Space Phantom manipulated them, and the fact Mephisto lied to him prompted him to quit.

Hulk made an ally in the Submariner but soon after clashed with the heroes, particularly with Thor, leading to the disappearance of the Hulk after being defeated.

Hulk resurfaced and was after revenge against the group, which led to a battle with The Fantastic Four and another match against the Thing.

Hulk has swept away after the battle had ended. After resurfacing in New Mexico, the avengers tricked him into helping them to prevent the eradication of humanity By Lava’s men.

As he was in his hideout, he was disturbed by the plot of Green Goblin of using the enforcers to terminate Spider-Man.

Before Hulk could flee, the scene Spider-Man arrived, leading to a clash between the two.

The Human Top, the biggest enemy of the avengers, manipulated the Hulk into a battle with his former comrades, Avengers.

Hulk Powers and Abilities

As a result of the exposure to the radiation, Banner was transformed into a massive monster. The Hulk’s body was mutated, and over 800lbs of bone marrow and muscle tissues increased in his body structure.

The adrenaline levels escalate when stressed; hence, when Hulk gets mad, he becomes more robust.

Hulk was described several times as one of the universe’s most powerful beings, with limitless potential for durability and strength. He has been told to be powerful enough to destroy an entire world.

Intel from Nick Fury had him as power level 10+, and He has stated him as the strongest hero ever to grace the superhero world.

Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

While Banner was on the run for five years, he attempted to commit suicide at one point. Banner chose to live discreetly in South America.

Banner had to return to New York City after Emil BIonsky led team was sent to apprehend Banner. However, he sought the help of Sterns and Betty Ross to cure him of his ailment, but was shortly captured.

Blonsky was transformed into an abomination after receiving a variant of the serum. The new threat allowed Banner to turn into Hulk to counter Blonsky before he could let Banner go.

The Avengers Asemble

Natasha Romanoff personally recruited Banner into the avengers and, along with Tony Stark, were tasked to track the Tesseract.

Banner joined the avengers in the New York Battle, despite losing control and attacking them. Banner assisted the group in defeating the army of Loki; thus, the invasion was averted.

Age of Ultron

Stark assisted Banner in creating Ultron. Initially, the program was designed to safeguard Earth, but it made the avengers and humanity the threat and focused on their destruction.

Stark and Banner created Vision and participated in The Sokovian battle to destroy the threat posed by Ultron.

Thor: Ragnarök

Banner crashed on a planet called Sakaar after coming across a wormhole. The environment on Sakaar was stressful, thus hindering his return to human form hence being in Hulk form for two years.

Hulk turned his back on Earth as he wanted to enjoy his life; however, his joy was short-lived as Thor returned, leading to a match between them in an arena.

Avengers: Infinity war

The black order attacked the statesman as they were on their way to Earth and, in the process, massacred the Asgardians.

Banner and Thanos fought, but Banner was subdued. Heimdall was shipped to Earth, where he warned of the impending arrival of Thanos.

Thanos completed the Gauntlet and wiped out half the population, but Banner survived.

Avengers: Endgame

Banner became an adored hero after he merged the consciousness of Banner and The Hulk, the combination of the strength of Hulk and the intelligence and mind of Banner.

Banner Joined the avengers in 2023 to help them travel through time using the Pym Particles and the Realm. Banner returned to the present after he had acquired the stones successfully.

To initiate the blip, Banner used the stones to resurrect the lives lost in the process. He helped Captain America return the Infinity Stones to their timelines.
