Ahsoka Tano was introduced to Star Wars fans as the Jedi Padawan of Anakin Skywalker. Since her first appearance in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ahsoka has become a fan favourite.

Ahsoka became a major character in the Clone Wars TV series as well as featuring in Star Wars Rebels, The Mandalorian Season 2 and as a voiceover cameo in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Played by actress Rosario Dawson, Ahsoka will appear in her own series Ahsoka on Disney+ released in 2022.

Who is Ahsoka Tano

Ahsoka Tano was a Togruta female discovered on her home plant, Shili, by Plo Koon, a Jedi Master. Koon soon brought her to the Jedi Temple to receive training in the Jedi arts. After the Clone Wars, she worked to establish a network of rebel cells opposing the Galactic Empire.

Earlier, when the Clone Wars were just starting, Grand Master Yoda assigned Tano to be the apprentice or Padawan of Anakin Skywalker, who gave her the nickname ‘Snips’ after she fought by his side at the Battle of Christophsis.

Skywalker had already earned a reputation for recklessness and, with Tano eager to prove herself worthy of knighthood, the master and apprentice had a contentious start to their relationship.

Nonetheless, the two were able to work together to facilitate an important alliance with the Hutt Clan and the Galactic Republic after they rescued Rotta, the son of the crime lord and Hutt leader Jabba Desilijic Tiure.

How did Anakin meet Ahsoka?

Ahsoka Tano, who quickly became one of the most popular figures in the Star Wars franchise, was first introduced to fans in the 2008 animated film, Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

She was first seen in that movie when she’s sent by Master Yoda to bring a message to Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker.

After she relayed Yoda’s message to the pair, Tano informed them that she’d been assigned to Anakin as his Padawan.

The character had first been assigned to Kenobi in the script but om reviewing this George Lucas decided it would establish Anakin as a more mature figure if he had his own apprentice.

This decision turned out to be a good one, as it not only added much-needed depth to Anakin as a character but helped launch what became one of the most iconic players in the Star War universe.

Which planet is Ahsoka Tano from?

In the year 36 BBY of the official Star Wars timeline, the future Jedi Ahsoka Tano was born on the planet Shili. Three years later she was discovered by Plo Koon, the Jedi Master who brought her into the Jedi order.

Tano was almost enslaved by an imposter who had intercepted a signal from her people about the manifestation of her force powers. Powers this figure hoped to take advantage of. Thankfully the imposter’s scheme was thwarted and Tano was soon able to begin her life as a Jedi.

Like all Padawans at the time, Ahsoka Tano was raised on Coruscant, home to the Jedi Temple. At some point, she travelled to an icy planet called Ilum and found a crystal that she could use to build he own lightsaber. She used this kyber crystal to construct her blade with the help of a Jedi droid called Hyung.

Is Ahsoka a Jedi?

Although she was targeted by Order 66 and the Jedi Purge, Anakin Skywalker’s former Padawan dropped out of the Jedi Order. As a result, she didn’t undergo the formal trials that lead to knighthood.

Despite being recognized by Master Yoda’s force ghost in the Jedi Temple during the animated Star Wars Rebels series, Ahsoka rejects the title, at one point saying, “I am no Jedi.”

Does Ahsoka Tano become a Sith?

Many Star Wars fans call Tano a Grey, meaning a force wielder who is neither Jedi nor Sith. Some others argue that the warrior chose the path of the Jedi on her own anyway, rejecting the corruption of the Order caused by the Clone Wars but remaining loyal to the true ways of the Jedi.

A free thinker, Tano turned her back on the Order due to the stigma associated with the Jedi at the time, but many fans believe that the character can’t escape from being what she really is.

Did Ahsoka die during Order 66?

Despite no longer identifying as a Jedi, Tano went into hiding after Order 66. During this time she made two new lightsabers with white blades, intended to show her rejection of both the Jedi and the Sith.

Now neutral, the warrior didn’t choose sides until the rebellion against the Galactic Empire. She then became a Rebel agent using the code name Fulcrum, her identity kept secret from all but those with the very highest security clearances.

After a call to help the Ghost Crew escape from Mustafar space, Tano’s destiny would be forever changed.

During the rescue, the former Jedi met two members of the Jedi order, Kaan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger. Soon after, she was present during an aerial clash with a mysterious Sith Lord.

The warrior reached out to the Sith Lord using the force, but the encounter caused her to lose consciousness.

Tano would later accompany the Ghost crew on some further missions, which included battles with the Seventh Sister ad Fifth Brother Inquisitors, who she easily defeated. These victories would lead to a much greater battle against the Sith Lord she encountered near the planet Mustafar.

This antagonist turned out to be her former master, Anakin Skywalker, who had become Darth Vader. They fought atop the Sith Temple on Malachor and the former padawan managed a strike across Vader’s mask, revealing his scarred face.

While the man beneath the mask looked like Anakin, Tano knew that the Jedi she had once known was gone and the fight continued as the Temple collapsed around them.

Did Ahsoka survive her fight with Vader?

One of the most enduring mysteries of Star Wars Rebels was Ahsoka Tano’s fate after she fought Darth Vader during the show’s Season 2 finale.

Most Star Wars fans assumed that Tano had died during the encounter, as Vader lived. However, one final shot in the episode showed her descending into the Sith Temple, implying she might have somehow survived.

The mystery was finally resolved in the episode, “A World Between Worlds”, where it was revealed that while Tano did lose the fight, Ezra has saved her by reaching back in time and pulling her to safety before Vader could deliver his killing blow.
