Miles Morales is a teenager who was bitten by a genetically engineered spider known as specimen 42. The spider-bite resulted in Miles developing  abilities similar to Spider-Man.

Miles Morales in Marvel Comics

The Initial appearance of Miles Morales was in August 2011 in Ultimate Fallout #4 after Peter Parker’s death in the  2011 comic book storyline “Death of Spider-Man”.

Miles Morales is A 13-year-old biracial son of a Puerto Rican mother and African American father. Miles became the replacement Spider-Man featured in the Ultimate Marvel series.

After the conclusion of the Ultimate Marvel imprint in 2015, Miles was made the lead character starting with the All-New, All-Different Marvel stories that made their debuts that year.

Miles was later part of the cast in the Ultimate Spider-Man animated television series. In the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse animated film of 2018, Miles was the main protagonist.

Miles Morales Origins

Two months before the death of Peter Parker, S.H.I.E.L.D arrested Norman Osborn and was exposed as the Green Goblin. The abandoned Osborn industries were broken into by a thief who did not notice a genetically enhanced spider escape in his bag.

Brooklyn based kid, Miles, was visiting his Uncle Aaron. The genetically enhanced spider emerged from Aaron’s bag that bit Miles, giving him the ability to camouflage himself, perform a stun blast, and move with increased agility.

Miles revealed to Ganke Lee, his best friend, about the powers, and they concluded that he had the same powers as Spider-Man. Miles did not want anything to do with this, as he wanted a normal life.

Following the death of Spider-Man, who was killed while saving Miles’ family from Osborn, a grief-stricken Miles decided to follow the philosophy left behind by Parker; great power comes with responsibility.

Miles Morales Powers and abilities

Miles got superhuman powers from a radioactive spider bite, enabling him to crawl across walls, and his enhanced reflexes help him to evade attacks. In the game Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps, Peter Parker trained Miles to make use of these abilities.

Miles has proficiency in various gadgets such as the web shooter.

Miles Morales: Into the Spider-Verse

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is an animated film with Miles Morales as Spider-Man.

The film was directed by Peter Ramsey, Rodney Rothman, and Bob Persichetti, with Shameik Moore voicing the character of Miles Morales.

Miles’ father is a police officer named Davis who sees Spider-Man as nothing more than a threat.

A collider built by Kingpin to bring his dead family back from parallel universes is discovered by Miles.

Spider-Man gives Miles a flash USB drive with information to disable the collider. Spider-Man informs Miles that if the machine is reactivated, it could destroy the entire city.

Miles watches as Spider-Man is killed by the Kingpin and eventually escapes Prowler’s pursuit.

An old and worn-down Spider-Man from an alternative universe, Peter B. Parker, meets with Miles at Spider-Man’s grave and agrees to train Miles if he helps him steal data to produce a new drive.

Olivia Octavius, a mad scientist, confronts them and discovers that he will die if Peter remains in that dimension.

As Octavius is chasing Miles and Peter, a parallel world Spider-Woman, Gwen Stacy, comes to their rescue.

As they visit Peter’s Aunt May, Miles discovers that she shelters various spider characters from other dimensions; Spider-man Noir, Spider-Ham and Peni Parker.

All the alternative universe spider-people are deteriorating more the longer they remain in this dimension.

Miles is questioned and Peter decides he does not have the experience to disable the collider. They leave him behind as they attempt to escape to their own realities.

With the help of Aunt May, Miles creates a spider suit of his own and joins the heroes as they defeat the Kingpin before using the drive to send everyone home.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales Game

The Marvel’s Spider-Man game series features Morales as one of the protagonist. Miles is the titular protagonist of the standalone release, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Son to Councillor Rio Morales and police officer Jefferson Davis, Miles is friends with Peter Parker and confides in Ganke Lee, who happens to know about his secret and helps him with his missions.

Peter introduces Miles to F.E.A.S.T. to serve as a volunteer. Miles does not know about Peter’s secret vigilante identity, Spider-Man, who happens to be Miles’ idol.

Miles gains spider-like powers and turns to his friend Peter who reveals his secret, that he is a Spider-Man. Miles tries to step up as the next superhero of New York under the close guidance of Peter.

The original game features Miles as a playable character pre-spider bite. However, in the spin-off, he is the lead character where he adopts the stealth and action mechanics same as Peter’s Spider-Man.

Miles Morales in the MCU

Miles lived in Queens, New York, with his Uncle Aaron Davis living nearby. Davis is a criminal who tried to prevent illegal weapons to hit the neighbourhood.

During the events of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Davis’ hand had been webbed to his car by Spider-Man and thus was stuck for several hours. This prompted him to call Miles to cancel and apologize for not being able to attend an appointment they had scheduled.
