Hawkeye (Clint Barton) in Marvel Comics
The character Hawkeye (Clint Barton) made his initial appearance was in September 1964 in Tales of suspense, which Don Heck and Stan Lee created. Hawkeye teamed up with the Avengers in May 1965 as a superhero.
After his death and resurrection, Hawkeye adopted the alias Ronin before he mentored Kate Bishop to succeed him.
Born into an abusive family, Barton and his brother were the targets of abuse from their uncaring mother, Edith, and alcoholic father, Harold. Harold’s excessive drinking led to their deaths which might be seen as justice.
After being put up in an orphanage, the two brothers escaped as they dreamt of leading a better life. They fell in with the traveling circus as they were on the run. They signed up for odd jobs as they needed food and shelter.
Clint had potential, which Trickshot saw and had him under his wing; he was taught archery by Trickshot and acrobatics and knife throwing by Swordsman.
Clint saw the two as heroes as they were the best the circus could offer. Money was stolen from the ringmaster, and Clint overhead this as he was doing a job for a performer.
Clint was suspicious of his mentor, so he questioned him and found out he had stolen the money. Clint was offered a cut by a swordsman, which he turned down, leading him to be left for dead by the Swordsman.
After coming back to the circus, Clint’s The Amazing Hawkeye received less attendance, leaving him feeling unappreciated and dismayed.
Iron man was stopping a runaway ride, thus the ignorance of his performance. The appearance of the iron man had an inspirational effect on Clint as he wanted to use his skills to fight crime.
Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Clint is a skilled marksman who earned Hawkeye’s name from how he used the bow and arrow as his weapons and his accuracy and keen eyesight.
As an agent, Barton was responsible for hiring Black Widow. Black Widow and Clint became strong friends.
The Avengers Movie
Clint was assigned to watch over the Tesseract by Nick Fury but was brainwashed and used as a pawn by Loki, who was attempting to be the king of Midgard.
The black widow freed Hawkeye from the mental control of Loki following the attack on Hellicarrier. Clint joined the fight against the Chitauri army, thus ending the invasion.
Age of Ultron
With the help of the Avengers, they brought down the remaining members of HYDRA and captured Baron Strucker, thus ending the threat of the organization (HYDRA) to the world.
Tony stark used HYDRA and Chitauri technology to create Ultron, thus pulling Hawkeye back into the fight. As Ultron tried to destroy the world, Hawkeye was busy making allies such as Wanda Maximoff and Pietro. Hawkeye retired in the battle of Sokovia, where the sacrifice of Quicksilver saved his life.
Captain America: Civil war
Hawkeye was living happily in retirement before Captain America reached out and recruited him to help out in the fight against the Sokovian Accords.
Hawkeye joined in the clash of avengers as He felt he owed it to Maximoff and Rogers; they were up against Iron Man, who was supporting the Accords.
Hawkeye and the team put up a good fight, but they were captured and imprisoned under the order of Thaddeus at the raft, but Rogers came to rescue them.
As he went for retirement again, Barton struck a deal with Ross, which placed him under house arrest.
Avengers: Endgame
Grief struck from losing his family; Barton went on a five-year rampage against criminals like Ronin. The Black Widow found Barton and convinced him to return to the Avengers in their attempts to reverse The Snap.
To enact the Time Heist, Hawkeye joined up with the team as they were attempting to obtain the infinity stones. Romanoff sacrificed her life so that Barton could get the soul stone.
Despite this success, Thanos ambushed them, and Hawkeye was ordered to make sure the Nano Gauntlet could not fall into the hands of Thanos.
The army of Thanos was defeated; however, Stark had to sacrifice his life.
Hawkeye: 2021 TV series
Jeremy Renner takes over the role of Clint Barton, with the role of Kate Bishop being reprised by Haile Steinfield.
A year after the events of Endgame, both Bishop and Barton have to team up in confronting their enemies of Ronin to get back in time for Christmas with his family.
Rotten Tomatoes, a review website, reports an approval rate of 92%, with a 7.55 average rating based on the 170 reviews.
