Doctor Strange, the principal guardian of the Earth against supernatural and magical threats, also serves as the Sorcerer Supreme.
A talented and self-centered surgeon, Doctor Stephen Strange got involved in a car accident that injured his hands extensively, and as a result, he lost his ability to operate.
While searching the Earth for his hands healing, he came across the Ancient One, who is the Sorcerer Supreme, and he becomes his student 44eho is taught both the martial and mystical arts.
Created by Steve Ditko with Stan Lee, the character first appeared in Strange Tales #110 (cover-dated July 1963).
Doctor Strange in Marvel Comics
Dr. Stephen Strange, M.D, also known as Dr. Strange, was the Sorcerer Supreme for Earth-616. Before a car accident severely damaged his hands, Strange was known as a bright but egotistical neurosurgeon.
On a mission to find a cure for his hands, after modern medicine failed him, he embarked on a journey to Kamar-Taj in Tiberi, where he encountered the Ancient One who trained him.
Through mystic arts and magic, he healed his hands and became a master of them. He later settled in New York, Greenwich Village, and became the Earth’s protector.
Mystic Consultant at the Sanctum Sanctorum
For seven years, Strange studied under the Ancient One magic before returning in the 1970s to the United States. He established his Sanctum Sanctorum in the Greenwich Village in New York and thus became the mystic consultant.
Wong, both a friend and a servant to Strange, attended to him and was the latest in a centuries-old lineage who was previously a servant of the Ancient One. During this time, demonic entities such as the House of Shadows, Possessors, KhLOG, Zota, Aggamon, and the Bottle lmp were fought by Strange.
The unearthly Nightmare who feasted upon humanity’s terror dreams was fought by Strange and was one of his bitter enemies. As his reputation grew, he offered consultation for the federal and local authorities.
Superhero Career
Strange aloof from the Superhero Community in New York, which debuted as the Fantastic Four, he secretly engaged in his combats against the Baron Mordo and Nightmare.
The Asgardian god of trickery, Loki, had at one time manipulated Strange into attacking Thor, his stout foster brother. Still, it did not end as expected for Loki when Strange turned against him when his treachery was uncovered.
After another battle with Mordo, Thor, through an operation and under the pretext of Dr. Donald Blake, saved Strange’s life.
Strange sort help from Spider-Man when he clashed with Mordo to save numerous people from a mystic dimension.
The events were so traumatic to Spider-Man that he requested Strange to erase all the memories of the experience and this also caused Spider-Man’s boldness to be forgotten by them.
Strange was impressed by Spider-Man’s courage, selflessness, and bravery that he became his friend, and they have since joined hands to fight the mystics over the years.
Doctor Strange Powers and Abilities
Strange was known as an accomplished expert in neurosurgery, where he was an M.D. However, due to a car accident that severely damaged his hands’ nerves, he can’t perform surgery except when he uses magic.
Sorcerer: Agamotho, Oshtur, and Hoggoth, known as the Vishati, were Doctor Strange’s primarily magic patrons from who he learned his mystic arts mastery.
The Words: An expert in using languages to alter realism, Dr. Strange surpassed the Black Priests’ capability in a short period. With this ability, he can change reality in diverse ways, depending on the order and amount of symbols.
Using sheer willpower, one can “steal” the power of another entity through the Darkness of the Divine Conduit (Black Magic). Spells are not required for this. Arioch and Shuma-Gorath were the targets of his use of this power.
Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange, M.D., Ph.D. is a former Master of the Mystic Arts and Sorcerer Supreme. A bright, conceited neurosurgeon, he crippled his hands from an accident.
After his efforts proved futile to heal his hands through western medicine, he resulted in Multiverse and Magic, which he learned from the Ancient One in Kamar-Taj.
Strange was lured into a struggle with Kaecilius and the Zealots, who worked for Dormammu and intended to connect Earth with the Dark Dimension to obtain immortal life. Despite this, Strange was able to cure his hand.
Having defeated Kaecillus and the death of the Ancient One, Strange became Sanctum Sanctorum’s new protector, whose main aim was protecting the Earth from inter-dimensional threats.
Avengers: Infinity War
Strange teamed up with Thor in locating Odin. Before he got wind, Thanos was attempting to find all the infinity stones and cause a massacre.
Strange was rescued by Spider-Man and Iron Man when he was attacked by Thanos’ Black order, who wanted the time stone of which he was a protector.
Strange, together with the Guardians of the Galaxy, fought Thanos’ but he willingly handed over the time stone to Thanos’ after seeing his future fate, which led to Thanos’ initiating the Snap, which killed many people, including Strange.
Five years later, Thano’s victims, including Strange, were resurrected with the assistance of the Avengers. The latter battled Thanos’, resulting in Iron Man getting killed by forfeiting himself to save the world.
Spider-Man: No Way Home
When Mysterio revealed Spider-true Man’s identity as Peter Parker, he sought Strange for help in making the world forget about it.
As a result of Parker’s meddling, Strange’s spell went wrong and accidentally released an army of Spider-adversaries Man’s from all over the Multiverse.
Strange attempted to utilize the Macchina di Kadavus to transport these adversaries to their universe to suffer their inevitable destiny, which Spider-Man had refused to allow in the hope of allowing these people a chance at atonement.
Strange tried to use the Macchina di Kadavus to send his enemies back to their reality. Still, Spider-Man resisted, wanting to offer these people a second opportunity at atonement after Strange captured them.
The Multiversal rift was then contained by Strange when he was stranded in the Mirror Dimension.
The only option left to him was to perform a spell, which he did to return the visitors to their reality and seal the gaps, but it also made everyone, including himself, forget about Parker.
